Energy suppliers come together for second Sector Liaison Panel of 2026

  • Published Sep 23, 2026

On 16 September 2026, Energy Ombudsman welcomed more than 60 representatives from domestic and non-domestic energy suppliers to our head office in Daresbury, Warrington, for our second Sector Liaison Panel (SLP) of the year.

It was one of our best-attended SLPs to date, bringing scheme members together for a day of collaboration and discussion on the issues currently affecting consumers and the wider energy sector.

The day began with an overview of Energy Ombudsman data, including H1 complaint volumes, shifts across domestic and non-domestic complaints, and insight into data sharing with Ofgem.

The session also covered planned updates to our workstreams following the government’s Faster, Fairer Redress consultation, before reflecting on Energy Ombudsman’s 20th anniversary year and two decades of supporting consumers and the energy sector.

Breakout sessions gave suppliers the opportunity to consider the potential impact of upcoming changes and service enhancements, as well as test developments to our complaints platform, including OmBudd-i, our AI knowledge assistant.

Commenting on the SLP, Jon Lenton, Regulatory Director at Energy Ombudsman, said:

“It was great to see so many suppliers come together for one of our most well-attended Sector Liaison Panels. As always, our SLPs continue to be a valuable forum for engaging directly with suppliers, sharing best practice and insight across the sector. They also allow suppliers to feed back to us, helping us identify ways to improve.”

We’d like to thank everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussions throughout the day.
