Energy Ombudsman features on Chirpy Heat Podcast (Feb 2026)

  • Published Feb 18, 2026

Jonathan Lenton, Regulatory Director at Energy Ombudsman, recently featured on the Chirpy Heat Podcast to discuss some of the most important post-regulation changes now facing Heat Networks

A valuable listen for anyone working across the UK energy sector, and now streaming on YouTube, Spotify and Apple, the discussion focused on;

  • The new dispute resolution regime and what it means for suppliers and consumers
  • The importance of registering with Energy Ombudsman as part of meeting regulatory expectations
  • How Ofgem’s new regulatory framework is raising the bar on compliance and accountability
  • The critical role of consumer protection, including enhanced vulnerability requirements

Jonathon Lenton, from Energy Ombudsman, commented; "Featuring on the podcast was a really enjoyable experience and a great way to reinforce the message that all Heat Networks are regulated by Ofgem and now need to register as members of our scheme, as a result of the regulation changes on January 27th. We've had just over 3,000 heat network sites registered with us so far. However, it’s been estimated that there are over 14,000 operational heat network sites in the UK."

Chirpy Heat Director, Rachael Mills, also said; "It was great to have Jon from Energy Ombudsman with us this week to provide guidance for our listeners around Ofgem's recent regulation changes. We're encouraging all Heat Network suppliers to visit the Energy Ombudsman's website, as this is crucial to both complying with regulation and ensuring heat networks have the best chance of responding to eligible disputes raised by heat network consumers."
