On Wednesday 18th March 2026, Energy Ombudsman welcomed representatives from domestic and non-domestic energy suppliers to our Head Office at Daresbury, Warrington, for our first Sector Liaison Panel (SLP) event of the year.
Our SLP events provide us with the perfect opportunity to collaborate with energy suppliers, encouraging open dialogue on the issues currently impacting consumers across the UK energy sector. They also provide great networking opportunities for suppliers to discuss common themes they see across their consumer journey, with a view to establishing a common best practice.
The day itself featured business updates from Energy Ombudsman, a snapshot of our complaint volumes data, and a preview of the upcoming system changes on our new-look supplier dashboard. The updates have been designed to help suppliers manage cases more efficiently.
We also spent time looking at the latest sector data and insights. Breakout sessions were then held to help suppliers understand what evidence we expect them to provide, and to explore best practice in supporting consumers in debt or at risk of disconnection.
Commenting on the SLP, Jonathan Lenton, Regulatory Director, said: “Sector Liaison Panels represent an important opportunity to talk to suppliers about how they can improve the service they offer to consumers, and gives them the opportunity to give us feedback on how we’re handling complaints."
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many valuing both the breakout sessions and the opportunity to network with other suppliers, as well as the Dispute Resolution Executives (DREs) who handle disputes.
